The Warmth Of A Plush Giant Toy
Kids love to open presents and when these come in a big package such as a plush giant toy, they will love it even more. A plush giant toy is not only for kids, they can be given to adults for all kinds of occasions. This is a popular gift for birthdays, anniversaries, Graduation Day, Valentine’s Day and Easter. It can, likewise, be given to cheer up a sick person and to comfort someone who has suffered a loss.
Stuffed toys can be made with cotton, plush and other types of fabric. They are filled with beans, straw, plastic pellets or synthetic materials. A pile of plush was formerly made from mohair or worsted yam. Way back then, it was used for making upholstery, furniture, dresses and millinery. Nowadays, plush is made from synthetic materials like polyester and this is known for making the best stuffed toys in the market.
Plush is the most popular type of material because of its super soft feel. For this reason, people refer to stuffed toys as plush toys. These toys are available in a wide assortment of forms such as animals, inanimate objects, cartoon characters and legendary characters, among others. Though the origin of plush toys has not been documented, the first concern to market these soft playthings can be identified with Steiff Company, a German toy manufacturer.
Margaret Steiff, who worked as a seamstress in this business of her sisters, sewed dresses for sale and for her own personal use. She had no intention of making stuffed toys. However, as she made elephant shaped pincushions as gifts for friends and relatives, kids loved to play with them.
The stuffed elephant was, therefore, the first toy in the category of stuffed animals. More than 5000 pieces were sold in the market. With this in mind, she began to make other soft toys with different animal designs. These sold better than clothes, prompting her to start a toy company in 1880. They, likewise, became popular in other countries.
Her nephew, Richard, joined the company in 1902. He first designed a toy bear based on this animal, which he saw at the Stuttgart Zoo. This was sewn by his Aunt Margaret. They, both, sold several at the Leizpig Fair to an American, who took advantage of the teddy bear craze in the United States during that time. This was all about the stuffed toy bear, designed by Morris Mitchtom, which was named after President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt.
Germany stopped its importation of stuffed toys to Britain in the beginning of World War II. This gave an opportunity to Chad Valley, a printing business, to venture into toy making. Initially, they just made games and toys made out of cardboard. Eventually, they made stuffed toys and in 1915, made their very first jointed plush teddy bear. This British Company, with their distinct safety standards, paved the way for other toy manufacturers to pay attention to quality and hygiene, when making these plush toys.
At present, a plush giant toy can be made to look more realistic, making it appealing to kids of all ages. Giving a plush giant toy, which is super soft and huggable, shows the warmth of its giver. It has its positive effects as it provides comfort and joy at anytime of the day.
